Novelist, screenwriter, playwright and broadcaster, Joseph O’Connor is the author of nine novels including Star of the Sea, Ghost Light (Dublin One City One Book novel 2011) and Shadowplay (June 2019). In 2014 he was appointed Frank McCourt Professor of Creative Writing at the University of Limerick. Twice Booker Prize-winner Peter Carey has written, ‘There are few living writers who can take us back in time so assuredly, through such gorgeous sentences. Kevin Barry is the author of the novels City of Bohane, which won the won the 2013 International Impac Dublin Literary Award, and Beatlebone. He is also the author of two short story collections, Dark Lies the Island and There are Little Kingdoms. His new novel, Night Boat to Tangier, taking place between the west of Ireland and the port of Algeciras in Spain, has been longlisted for the 2019 Booker Prize. A unique and compelling voice, he has already been described by Irvine Welsh as ‘the most arresting and original writer to emerge from these islands in years’.
