Michael J. Whelan is a historian and soldier-poet living in South Dublin, Ireland. He deployed as
a United Nations Peacekeeper with the Irish Defence Forces to the conflicts in Lebanon and Kosovo in the 1990s. On the centenary of the Great War and the Irish Revolution, his new book, Rules of Engagement, explores an Irish soldier-poet’s search for truth and meaning in reconciling his place in the natural world and futility at the modern human one, referencing surreal experiences and memories of conflict zones abroad and life at home.
We are honoured to have Major General Sean Clancy - Deputy Chief of Staff (Sp) Irish Defence Forces to launch Michael J Whelan’s book.
